Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ounce red food coloring
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for coating
- Approximately 48 white chocolate candy kisses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, mix the buttermilk with the red food coloring. Add the buttermilk mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the dry ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
- Place the cookie dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie. Bake for 8 10 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Remove the baking sheets from the oven and immediately press a white chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
