Description
The most easy and moist Classic Irish Tea Cake made by creaming room temperature butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy adding 4 eggs one at a time with vanilla then alternating flour baking powder and cinnamon with whole milk until just combined baked at 350°F in a 9-inch round pan for 30 to 35 minutes cooled completely and dusted generously with powdered sugar. A completely comforting and perfectly simple afternoon tea cake recipe.
Ingredients
1 cup Unsalted Butter softened to room temperature
1 cup Granulated Sugar
4 large Eggs
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup Whole Milk
Powdered Sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F 175°C. Grease 9-inch round pan. Line with parchment.
2. Cream softened butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each. Stir in vanilla.
4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and cinnamon in separate bowl.
5. Alternate dry ingredients and milk mixing until just combined after each addition. Do not overmix.
6. Pour into prepared pan. Smooth top.
7. Bake 30 to 35 minutes until toothpick clean and top golden.
8. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Transfer to wire rack. Cool completely.
9. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
