Description
A delicious homemade caramel sauce made with fresh apple cider, perfect for drizzling over ice cream and pancakes.
Ingredients

- 2 cups apple cider (use fresh cider for best results)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup heavy cream (room temperature)
- 0.25 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat until it simmers.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes until it reduces to about 1 cup.
- In another saucepan, add the granulated sugar and cook over medium heat, stirring until it melts and turns golden.
- Slowly add the reduced apple cider to the melted sugar, stirring carefully as the mixture will bubble up.
- Add the butter, stirring continuously until it melts, then add the heavy cream, stirring until well combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Can be warmed up before use.
