Dandelion Bread The Most Unique and Fragrant Quick Bread You Will Ever Bake

Description

The most fragrant and unique Dandelion Bread made with fresh foraged dandelion petals honey egg and whole milk in a simple quick bread that is moist golden and deeply floral. A beautiful no-yeast spring loaf ready in 50 minutes.


Ingredients

1 cup Fresh Dandelion Petals loosely packed yellow only rinsed and dried

2 cups All-Purpose Flour

2 tsp Baking Powder

1 pinch Salt

1 large Egg room temperature

1 1/4 cups Whole Milk

3 tbsp Vegetable Oil

1/2 cup Honey


Instructions

1. Separate yellow dandelion petals from all green bases. Rinse gently and pat completely dry.

2. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line or grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.

3. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add dandelion petals and stir to distribute.

4. Whisk egg, milk, oil, and honey in a separate bowl until smooth and fully combined.

5. Pour wet ingredients into dry. Fold gently until just combined with no dry streaks. Do not overmix.

6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes until top begins to turn golden.

8. Reduce temperature to 350°F without opening the oven. Bake another 20 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

9. Rest in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack.

10. Slice and serve warm with butter or lemon curd.

Notes

Remove every bit of green from dandelion petals before using to prevent bitterness.

Do not overmix batter after combining wet and dry ingredients. A rough lumpy batter produces a tender loaf.

The two-stage baking temperature is essential for a golden crust and fully cooked interior.

Petals must be completely dry before adding to the batter.

Store wrapped at room temperature 2 to 3 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
