- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening (or coconut oil)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with fudgy crumbs.
- Let brownies cool completely in pan before cutting into heart shapes.
- Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a double boiler or microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each brownie heart into melted chocolate, covering completely.
- Place dipped brownies on parchment lined baking sheet.
- Let chocolate set completely before serving.
