Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Molasses
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)
  • 1 cup Toasted Walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the molasses, eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in the toasted walnuts gently.
  6. Grease a loaf pan and pour the batter into it.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
