Agar-Agar Fruit Jelly Cubes: Easy Vegan Recipe!

  • Total Time: 2 hours 22 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Refreshing and colorful vegan fruit jelly cubes made with agar agar powder and your choice of fruit juice. A perfect light dessert or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Fruit Juice (apple, grape, or mixed fruit juice)
  • 4 tablespoons Agar Agar Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar (or more, to taste, optional)
  • Optional: Fresh fruit pieces (berries, grapes, kiwi) for embedding

Instructions

  1. 1. Combine the Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the fruit juice and agar agar powder. Make sure there are no clumps.
  2. 2. Heat and Stir: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly to prevent the agar agar from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  3. 3. Simmer Until Dissolved: Continue to simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the agar agar powder is completely dissolved. The mixture should be clear and smooth.
  4. 4. Add Sugar (Optional): If desired, stir in sugar to taste. Continue stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remember that some fruit juices are already sweet, so taste and adjust accordingly.
  5. 5. Add Fruit Pieces (Optional): If using fresh fruit pieces, gently fold them into the agar agar mixture. This will add texture and visual appeal to your jelly cubes.
  6. 6. Pour into Mold: Pour the mixture into a square or rectangular dish or mold. If you want individual cubes from the start, you can also use small silicone molds.
  7. 7. Chill Until Set: Let the mixture cool slightly, then cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the jelly is firm and set. It may take longer depending on your refrigerator.
  8. 8. Cut into Cubes: Once the jelly is firm, remove it from the refrigerator. Invert the dish onto a cutting board and gently tap to release the jelly. Use a sharp knife to cut the jelly into cubes.
